Water Baptism
READY TO SUBMERGE?
Water baptism is an outward response following an inner change. It signifies that one has received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour! It is an act of repentance [going down as the old man], and an act of Faith [coming up as a redeemed child of God!] (Romans 6:4-9).
The physical declaration of water baptism postures ones heart to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit (John 3:5). The cleansing of the water represents the cleansing of the blood of Jesus Christ which washes away ALL of our sins (2 Cor. 5:17). Those who trust in the Lord receive a pure heart in which The Holy Spirit can now reside (Ezekiel 36:25-28). The Holy Spirit enables us to continue walking in freedom, to know and grow closer to the Father and be witnesses to the ends of the earth in sharing the love of God with others (Acts 1:8, 2:38-39). The same person Jesus was to His disciples is the same person Holy Spirit is to us (John 14:16-18).
